​This pretty little British native plant has slender dark-green leaves and produces umbels of three-petalled pinky-purple flowers with a yellow centre all summer. After it goes over, each flower leaves an attractive spiky little seed head. It is very free-flowering for a wild plant, clump-forming, and just lovely for small ponds, tub gardens or even washing-up-bowl ponds. It never seems to be attacked by pests such as caterpillars or beetles, something which can be a problem with other native plants. When flowering slows down, trimming off the seed heads will cause a fresh burst of flowers to appear.

If designing a planting scheme, we recommend approximately 5 Baldellia ranunculoides plants per square foot of ground, or 3 plants per linear foot of pond edge. Read more here on how to .
